Mountain Goat Lodge
Like the Gator Nation, it turns out the Cheese Nation is everywhere. My classmates during my dive certification class were Gina and D’Arcy, a charming couple who run the Mountain Goat Lodge, a B&B in Salida, Colorado that features (among other things)…wait for it…homemade goat’s cheese from the herd that lives on the grounds. And cheese making classes. Yes. I managed to fly halfway around the world and meet the kind of person who makes cheese on their diving holiday in Fiji. It’s a gift, what can I say?
But the lodge looks gorgeous and Gina and D’Arcy are a riot, so if you’re in the area, check it out. Local food, homemade cheese, animal-friendly, rave reviews on TripAdvisor, and access to all sorts of outdoorsy activities. My kind of place.
